Technical Proposal Writer

Responsibilities

• Reviews and analyzes solicitations (RFIs, RFPs, RFQs, etc.).
• Counsels on complex proposal issues and makes recommendations.
• Respond to RFP releases and other calls for proposals.
• Interacts with engineering teams to ensure proposal meets all RFP requirements.
• Processes all proposal activities during proposal phase and post-submittal activities.
• Conducts customer interviews before, during, and after the proposal process, as needed.
• Manage research and data collection efforts to fully define customers’ requirements.
• Conduct kick-off meetings, lead teams through the writing process, oversee proposal reviews, obtain corporate sign-off, and follow through on compliant/timely proposal submission.
• Constructs and writes sections of the proposal to ensure thoroughness.
• Compiles technical elements in the development of proposals in accordance with RFP specifications and coordinates the collection and accumulation of cost, scheduling, and performance elements from functional departments.
• Prepare and assist in submission of proposals to include RFP review and compliance, outlining, and follow-through on compliant/timely proposal submission.
• Assist in determining negotiation/presentation strategies.
• Develops written responses and re-write/edits responses as necessary to demonstrate our competitive strengths

Requirements

• B.S. Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience. MBA or Technical Program Management preferred.
• 5+ years experience with proposal preparation and submission. Ideal candidate should have at least 5 years of Petroleum Engineering experience and strong technical writing and editing skills.
• Solid presentation skills and the ability to communicate, influence and gain commitment of Program and Business Development team members.
• Good organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks in order to meet schedules
• Ability to work well in a team
• Sales/marketing experience or exposure is preferred.
• Project management skills.
• Good problem solving skills and detail-oriented
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Experience working with upper-level management
• Highly proficient in Microsoft products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio
